Children Rally for Maplewood Daycare Provider | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Mary Swanson cared for children for nearly 30 years. Now they're caring for her.
The 54-year-old Maplewood woman closed her daycare after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in June.
Friends, family and the kids Swanson looked after took part in a benefit for her at Woodland Hills Church in St. Paul Friday. Funds raised will help the family cover mounting medical bills.
Swanson had one stem cell transplant, and will have a second one later this month.
She says she feels good and hopes to reopen her daycare in the fall.
Donations are welcome. Checks should say "For the Benefit of Mary P. Swanson" and can be dropped off at any Wells Fargo location or mailed to IDS Center Skyway Level 80 South 8th Street Suite 281 Mpls Mn 55402.
