Little Angels Preschool in Oakdale to Remain Open | News

Petitions, websites, and Facebook pages all helped save a local preschool from being closed.

Officials at Guardian Angel Catholic Church announced that Little Angels Preschool in Oakdale will remain open for the 2012-13 school year.

In January, the church informed parents that declining enrollment and mounting financial pressures were forcing officials to find other use for the space currently occupied by the school.

But parents didn’t accept that news without a fight. They circulated a petition and set up a website and Facebook page. Church officials hosted a meeting the first week of February to give parents an opportunity to discuss the matter.  

Officials say the school will be open beginning in September. A committee comprised of parents, alumni parents, and church officials will be charged with creating a plan to keep the school open beyond next school year.    
 
“We will continue to work on a long-term solution in the next several months that addresses the parents’ desire to keep the preschool open,” said a statement in the church bulletin.
